Working a Ski Season in the USA

I personally have done two seasons in Colorado and loved every second of it. I was in Vail and I had plenty of friends in Aspen who loved it equally as much. Here is a link to jobs with Vail Resorts who has some 30+ mountains in their portfolio. Doing a season in the US integrates you into a culture of people who are looking to ski and meet people from around the world and it is common to have friends from US, South Africa, Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Peru, Costa Rica and so many more by the end of your travels. After your visa expires I believe you have an additional month to travel but please check with relevant parties.

A Colombian friend of mine spent time in Mt Washington and Loved it

Getting there:
1. For Colombia the USA doesn’t offer working holiday visa, instated they have internships or trainee visa ( J1) for careers related to hospitality, I used a travel agency in Colombia that partners with CHI a company that offers work programs in the states, they took care of all the selection process and offer to advise to get the visa and plan the trip to start working in legally.

2. I was living in Bretton Woods that is a tiny village in Carroll NH, therefore everything is by recommendation of friends or family, they use craigslist too but is not very helpful in such a small place, some of the ski resorts offer housing for their employees at a better price. There are bigger towns about 30 km from the resorts where is easier to find a place to live, another option is Airb&b for a temporary stay.

Jobs and Job Fairs
3 Most resorts have job fairs all year around and offer hiring options on their websites, Craiglist is also a good option especially when looking for a job in a big city. The resorts offer several options to work and grow in the company if needed is possible to have 2 jobs or extra hours and after 6 months or longer depending on the company the employee can request a transfer to other location.

4. I worked at Omni Mt Washington that is always looking for new staff but there’s plenty of hotels and resorts around the east coast looking to hire, especially in Vermont and new Hampshire, there’s also lots of restaurants in the main cities looking for talented people to work with.

Further, there are  a couple hostels that are known to hire:
